A Distinctive New Vehicle Customized for Neighborhood Transportation

Move over, golf cars. There’s a new car on the block: the personal transportation vehicle (PTV), a small four-wheeled vehicle similar to a golf car that’s made for neighborhood transportation.

And Club Car has a distinctive new model rolling off the line: the limited edition Jaunt PTV.

“The Jaunt PTV is tailor-made for seniors, families and individuals in communities where personal transportation is part of the lifestyle,” says Mary A. Sicard, consumer marketing manager. It comes in two- and four-passenger electric models, and can be used both on and off course.

Almost-instant Customization

“Personalizing a vehicle takes days, and using aftermarket parts can affect your warranty,” Sicard says. The limited edition Jaunt PTV avoids those problems. It comes factory-customized with the following features and carries a two-year limited warranty:

An automotive-style body and cowl with dual halogen headlights and molded-in color that doesn’t show scratches. (Black, midnight sky metallic, red or silver metallic)

A color-coordinated canopy

Luxurious marine-grade seats with complementary piping and stitching
A rear flip seat (Four-passenger models only)

“The Jaunt PTV is built on our exclusive rustproof AlumiCore™ frame and engineered to deliver years of inexpensive, reliable transportation,” Sicard says.

Not-So-Standard Equipment
The vehicles are accessorized for neighborhood transportation with:

19-mph Private Use Speed Option
Headlights, tail lights, brake lights and horn
Comfort-grip steering wheels
Wink mirrors
Split windshields
USB ports
PTV kits (decals and reflectors)
Exclusive Club Car grills
Automotive-style alloy wheels

Best-in-class Chargers with Single Point Watering Systems

The quiet, emissions-free Jaunt PTV delivers one of the longest ranges in its class and helps avoid dead batteries and ruined outings. It’s new charging system issues alerts that prevent common user errors. It also charges during power fluctuations and monitors the battery pack after charging to deliver power as needed. A standard single-point watering system simplifies battery maintenance and extends battery life.

Owners of 48-volt electric Club Car Precedent golf cars, Carryall utility vehicles and Villager LSVs can now capture, store and use solar power with the addition of Club Car’s new 100-watt Solar Drive Charging Panel Assembly.

“As the world’s largest manufacturer of small four-wheel electric vehicles, Club Car is offering this new accessory to help our consumer, golf and commercial customers decrease grid charging and increase range on these vehicles,” says Randall Crook, Club Car’s interim aftermarket marketing manager.

As a yearly average, the system generates 29 percent of the total energy required to drive eight miles per day in West Palm Beach, Fla. That reduces the energy needed to recharge the battery by 29 percent. Results may vary depending on area and usage. By continually transferring energy to the batteries, the panels limit how deep into the battery reserve a vehicle must go during a typical use.

Best-in-class Material, Performance and Technology: These high-quality panels are based on technology developed for the U.S. Marine Corps, which uses it to run communications equipment in the Middle East.

The panels are made in the United States of a lightweight, impact-resistant, photo-voltaic material with a Teflon-like coating that protects the cells. Measuring 40″ x 26″, the panels fit snuggly on the canopies or cabs of Precedent golf cars, Carryall utility vehicles and Villager LSVs. They weigh less than six pounds and are just .20 inches thick. Most solar panels are made in China, framed in tempered glass and weigh approximately 24 pounds, creating drag on the vehicle and limiting the benefits. What’s more, service and warranty issues can be a big problem with panels made abroad.

“The Club Car panels are designed with advanced power-harvesting technology that optimizes solar power during various weather conditions and rapidly converts it into electricity to recharge the batteries and power vehicles,” says Crook. “The system also features an intelligent microprocessor that allows a higher rate of charge and reduces charge time, without overheating.”

The panels come complete with a controller, connector to the vehicle’s power supply, all necessary hardware and installation instructions. They can be user- or dealer-installed in about 20 minutes.

In addition to the standard 100-watt panel for the above-mentioned vehicles, Club Car can configure solar panels for other types of vehicles through its Custom Solutions Department.

Utility vehicles used in hunting or work applications often cover wet, hilly and rough terrain. But this can cause problems with traction and steering for many two-wheel drive models. It can also damage lawns when the vehicles are used on grass.

That’s not the case with Club Car’s new XRT800 and XRT850 utility vehicles. They are available from the factory with an optional automatic limited slip differential. Further, they feature quiet overhead cam engines with electronic fuel injection, something rarely found in compact UTVs.

“Our innovative differential improves hill-climbing ability, traction and control, especially in the woods, rough terrain or wet weather,” says Consumer Marketing Manager Mary A. Sicard. “Add all-terrain tires and you’ve got a lifted vehicle with improved performance that can operate in areas that are inaccessible with open differentials.”

The automotive-style limited slip differential operates differently, and more effectively, than either locking or open differentials. Vehicles with locking differentials lock up completely and damage turf. They can also lock at the wrong times. What’s more, manual locking differentials require operators to pull a lever and lock the differential. “Yet you get stuck before you realize it,” Sicard says.

Open differentials, on the other hand, are simpler in design and function than limited slip differentials. But when these vehicles get stuck, the power is transferred to the tire with the least traction, so the tire just keeps spinning. “Our limited slip differential delivers true on-demand traction, without the driver having to manipulate locks or fight a steering wheel with a mind of its own,” says Sicard. When driving in a straight line, the system operates like a locking differential. Both tires are receiving power for maximum traction. But once you start turning, the internal clutches allow the tires to turn at different speeds, so the driver maintains control of steering.

“With this system, you can wind your way around trees, across gullies, through mud and over pine straw, logs and other debris,” Sicard says. The system was engineered and tuned to work both on turf and off-road. It locks and unlocks in a fraction of a second.

“Since the XRT 800 and XRT 850 are mid- or rear-engine vehicles, most of the weight is on the rear tires. That means the back tires get more ‘bite,’ so they climb hills with ease. Having weight in the back of the vehicle – like a big buck – only increases this,” Sicard says. Visit for complete information.

Yamaha’s Alternating Current Electric Golf Car Delivers Highest Horsepower and Longest Range in the Industry

Yamaha Golf-Car Company unveiled its latest technological advancement, the Drive AC (alternating current) golf car, at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, January 20-23.

The Yamaha Drive AC is the most powerful, cost efficient and reliable golf car on the market, offering many benefits, including:

The AC Advantage: Alternating current is the most efficient way to transmit electricity, delivering more voltage, while drawing fewer amps. By saving on amp-hours during a golf round, the Drive AC batteries last longer and require less electricity to recharge. Extended battery life leads to the option to extend lease terms, which reduces the cost of fleet ownership.

More Horsepower/Torque: The Drive AC is driven by a 6.7 horsepower engine, providing 50% more power and torque than its closest competitor. Torque is the ability of a rotating shaft or gear to overcome resistance. So, increased torque enables the Drive AC to better climb hills and travel faster and farther.

Motor Simplicity: The AC motor has fewer moving parts than a DC motor, meaning there is less to break down. Without brushes and some other parts found on DC motors, the Drive AC is inherently more reliable.

“The Drive AC represents the pinnacle of innovation from our Yamaha engineers and manufacturing team” according to Yamaha President Tom McDonald. “Its cost- effectiveness and dependability could potentially save a fleet operator thousands of dollars in operating costs.”

As an industry first, Electronic Fuel Injection is a standard feature for Yamaha gas golf cars, and offers many benefits over traditional carbureted fuel delivery systems, including: The greenest gasoline-powered golf car available, and with the industry’s smallest carbon footprint. Smoother, more responsive acceleration. No choke required. Unprecedented gas mileage

Both the Drive AC and the Drive EFI offer larger contoured seats, a broader window of entry and egress, maintenance-free rack and pinion steering, 360° wrap around bumper system, a bigger sweater basket and the largest bag wells in the market.

The fastest and lightest golf cart ever made by Garia.

The creative collaboration between Mansory Design and Garia reaches new heights with this years exhibited model at the Geneva Auto Show 2015.

The Garia Mansory Prism is the fastest golf cart the duo has made to date with a top speed of 60 km/h (37 mph) and an acceleration of 0-40 km/h (25mph) in less than 2 seconds thanks to new Samsung Lithium Batteries and an upgraded Curtis Controller. The speed is further assisted by a significant weight loss compared to a regular Garia Monaco Roadster of more than 150 kg, making this also the lightest Garia ever made.

Still suitable for golf due to its adjustable speed and regeneration settings via the machined aluminum knobs on the dashboard, the driver can opt for one of the three driving programs: “Golf” “Street” or “Race” - the last one powerful enough to spin its wheels on dry tarmac and lending the car a go-cart attitude in terms of handling and performance. Turn the switch to “Golf” and the top speed, acceleration and torque settings are adjusted to golf course accepted levels. This really is the ultimate golf car!

Made as a visualization of the customization program Garia offers its clients, the Garia Mansory Prism debuts chrome body panels and aluminum switches made in collaboration with German Bugatti supplier Kussmaul. Clear coated carbon fibre parts and leather seats comes from Mansory who offers a full official range of upgrades for all Garia models. All parts of the car are made from the highest quality materials only seen in high-end supercars and the aerospace industry. Skilled technicians assemble each car by hand to the highest specifications.

Most of the parts on the Garia Mansory Prism is available as upgrades for all regular Garia cars, but the specific design of the Garia Mansory Prism and its unique performance and adjustable settings is strictly limited to 7 pieces. The heart of the Prism – the Samsung Lithium Battery – is however available for all new and existing Garia cars – although without the special Garia Mansory Prism controller. Still it enables speeds at 60 km/h (37 mph*), improved acceleration as well as longer range and faster charging compared to traditional lead acid batteries. Garia Samsung Batteries comes with a 5-year capacity warranty and is ideal for community vehicles and golf cars where a large driving range is important as well as cars that are stored for months at a time.

A Douglassville man has been charged after police responded to a reported burglary at Golf Cart Specialists LLC.

Brandon Hoffmaster, 23, of Douglassville is facing charges after allegedly committing a burglary to support a heroin addiction, according to court documents.

Police were dispatched to the business at 126 Industrial Parkway on Nov 3., where they discovered forced entry was made through a rear garage overhead door. Officers found a window in the overhead door smashed out. They then determined that once the burglar was inside, forced entry was made into the Corporate Controllers Office by smashing a large window after a failed attempt to break open the office door with a sledge hammer, according to police.

A box containing $400 cash, an Apple iPad valued at $736.64 and a video projector valued at $250 were taken. Other offices and rooms inside the business were ransacked and damage was caused to additional property, according to court documents.

The business had also experienced thefts from the warehouse shop in previous months which included a missing Echo Gas BPK Lo-Noise leaf blower, an Echo 14 gas chain saw, a Dewalt Battery Grinder/Buffer and a Snap On three-eights-inch cordless impact tool. At the time, it was suspected that an employee was involved in the thefts and possibly the burglary, according to police. The business suffered a total loss of $1,113.98 Between items stolen during the thefts and the items taken during the burglary, Golf Cart Specialists LLC suffered a total loss of $2,500.62.

Police made contact with Hoffmaster when they arrived to take the burglary report. Hoffmaster had worked as a general laborer in the warehouse. He was found outside the business before management had arrived. After consenting to a vehicle search, police found drug paraphernalia consisting of needles and used waxen bags commonly related to heroin abuse, according to police.

On Nov. 6 Hoffmaster was interviewed by police where he admitted to the theft of the leaf blower, grinder and chain saw. He also admitted to stealing the items to support his heroin addiction. He informed police that he has taken the items to local pawn shops to trade for cash to purchase heroin. He denied being involved in the burglary, police said.

Hoffmaster was interview again on Nov. 7. He then admitted to committing the burglary. Hoffmaster explained to police that he had smashed the overhead garage door to gain access on Nov. 1 at around 7 a.m. He then explained that he forced entry into the office and took the iPad, video projector and cash box. Hoffmaster again admitted to stealing the items to pawn for cash to support his heroin addiction. He then informed police that he damaged additional property so that it would appear to have been committed by a non-employee.

Hoffmaster is being charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, theft, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief and use or possession of drug paraphernalia. He faced a preliminary arraignment on Nov. 7 before District Judge Walter F. Gadzicki and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 17 again before District Judge Walter F. Gadzicki. He was unable to post the set $10,000 cash bail and is being held at Montgomery County Correctional Facility.

Jerry Snead, a caretaker at Colonial Golf Course on Diascund Road, testified that on Nov. 4, 2014, he was at the property and noticed a white Jeep with the back door open near the golf cart garage. He said as he approached a white male shut the door, jumped in the passenger seat and the Jeep sped off.

The next day he Snead noticed some batteries had been moved and some were missing along with some copper, according to his testimony. Asked if James City Police Chief Brad Rinehimer maintained game cameras on the property, Snead answered yes.

A criminal complaint against Hogge indicates surveillance footage from Nov. 3, 2014 showed two white males matching the description of Hogge and 27-year-old Adam Lawrence Alspaugh on the property. Cathy Black, deputy commonwealth attorney, submitted a photograph of two white males at the golf course as evidence.

At 12:24 p.m. on Nov. 4, 2014, Alspaugh sold 24 Trojan brand golf cart batteries to James City Recycling, according to the complaint against Hogge. Police said the batteries were valued at $3,500.

Investigator Kathy Swanson with James City police testified that she responded to the recycling center, noting that the business’s records indicate a white Jeep Cherokee had dropped off golf cart batteries on that day. She added that copper had been brought to the recycling center the day before. The complaint states Alspaugh was the person who sold it.

Hogge’s girlfriend told the court that her sister’s white Jeep Cherokee had been left at the house for Alspaugh and Hogge to use on Nov. 4, but she had no knowledge of whether they had driven it. She said Hogge indicated he and Alspaugh had been together that day and that the Jeep had been moved from its original parking spot.

Alspaugh was indicted in January on two counts of grand larceny in connection with the incident.

United Commercial Upholstery (UCU), the manufacturers of the Suite Seats family of golf cart seats and accessories has expanded into a new 42,000 sq ft facility. The new building is situated on 7 acres of industrial zoned land to allow for future expansion.

As most of you know, UCU’s Original Suite Seats was one of the very first golf cart seat upgrades. Beginning in 2005 with just a handful of dealers the Suite Seat line has grown to over 500 dealers across the US & Canada. Couple that with the fact that 100% of everything UCU manufactures is done on site in the great state of Minnesota it only makes sense that this growth would eventually require purchasing and moving into a larger facility.

According to Phil Vorwerk, the President of UCU, “In the last 24 months alone we’ve added four new products to our golf cart products line: The Suite Seats Touring Edition, the Legacy Line of OEM style seat assemblies & covers, Floor Mats & Custom Coolers. Add to that a substantial increase in our Marine OEM business we simply did not have the space required for more employees and new equipment and technologies”. Adds Chris Vorwerk, the other half of UCU’s husband & wife ownership, “A lot of people are unaware that we are structured into two divisions. Our Brands Division primarily serves the golf cart industry and our second division is for OEM manufactures. This OEM Division supplies sub-components for several manufacturers in a broad range of industries including boat/pontoons, children’s furniture & the automotive aftermarket to name a few. We are very fortunate that the manufactures we work with are spread across a wide range of varied industries”

Along with the building UCU invested heavily in new equipment, offices & added several new people as well. Say’s Phil “The production flow we’ve been able to achieve with the larger building has really enhanced our ability to substantially increase production volume without sacrificing quality or service times. And because we relocated to a much larger community it has really improved our ability to attract & retain skilled, motivated people”. Notes Chris, “due to the labor intensive nature of upholstery manufacturing this has been a big plus to our move.”

Move into the Fun Lane in a Precedent Golf Car: Precedent golf cars are renowned for their durability, style and comfort. “They’re built on the industry’s only rustproof aluminum frame and feature our unique Monsoon Top™ Canopy that channels water straight to the ground,” says Consumer Marketing Manager Mary A. Sicard. They also deliver the smoothest, most comfortable ride in the industry thanks to Club Car’s exclusive SportDrive™ steering and suspension system.

Precedent golf cars are not only great on the course, they are ideal for use in gated and retirement communities, for homeowners with acreage, at small businesses and in many other applications.

Choose a gasoline model with a Subaru 14-hp-rated, 404-cc overhead cam engine with electronic fuel injection. They deliver best-in-class power, fuel efficiency and warranty. Or select a quiet, zero-emissions electric model with the industry’s longest range and Club Car’s new high-frequency, solid-state ERIC charger that uses audio and visual alerts to prevent common user errors.

Go Green and Save Green with a Villager LSV: These stylish, zero-emissions electric vehicles are street-legal in most states on roads with speed limits of 35 mph or less. They are available in two- and four-passenger models, travel at speeds of 20-25 mph and come with all required safety equipment. “Because Villager LSVs are small, nimble and open-air, they are easier to park, more sociable and much more fun to drive than traditional cars,” says Sicard. The vehicles can be charged through a standard 110-volt outlet, costs just pennies per day to operate and gets up to 30 miles to a charge. No more $50 fill-ups! All this makes them ideal for shopping, running errands, going out to dinner, zipping to the gym or just cruising.

E-Z-GO®, a leading global manufacturer of golf cars and light-transportation vehicles, announces the arrival of the new SC-48 Battery Charger for its 2015 model year RXV® and TXT® electric fleet golf cars.

Exclusive to E-Z-GO, the SC-48 Charger is the outcome of a multi-year collaboration with Delta-Q Technologies to design a durable, high-efficiency charger that will last beyond its initial lease and be field-serviceable by approved E-Z-GO authorized distributors and service centers.

The SC-48 Charger design uses a rugged and sealed die-cast housing to protect against dirt, water and other contaminants entering the charger. Based on the two companies’ experience, sealing is key to a charger’s long-term reliability and ensuring that a golf course’s fleet will be available for multiple rounds of golf each day.

The SC-48 also offers course operators worry-free charge quality, delivering the unique temperature-compensated charge profile employed by all of E-Z-GO’s fleet golf chargers since 2007. The charger adjusts charging performance based on measurements from the temperature sensor installed on the car’s battery pack. This approach is preferred by leading battery manufacturers, and is proven to maximize overall battery life.

“We worked closely with E-Z-GO on this particular design, and validated the SC-48 by testing hundreds of chargers in the field,” said Lloyd Gomm, Director of Product Management at Delta-Q Technologies. “We think the SC-48 will really appeal to new and existing E-Z-GO customers.”

“The SC-48 Charger is unique in its serviceability, as the only high-frequency golf car charger that is repairable in the field,” said Steven Meyer, Product Manager, Golf for E-Z-GO. “If a charger is damaged and reports an internal fault, our network of service technicians and distributors can repair the charger with a service kit available from E-Z-GO Genuine Parts and Accessories.”

Field serviceability extends to the AC and DC charger cords, which, when under excessive stress, will be released from the Delta-Q SC-48 without damaging the charger. This is a helpful safety feature for charge barn employees, as it helps avoid pulling chargers off ceiling rods when an adjacent car canopy inadvertently pulls on the cord.

Simple LED charge indicators on both the charger and vehicle keep customers up-to-date about AC power status, charging progress, charge completion, or whether a fault has occurred.

Owners of Precedent golf cars often use body kits, seats, wheels and other accessories to personalize their vehicles. But the process can get confusing, and the quality of the workmanship and materials often come from various sources and can be dubious.

“Poorly designed customized bodies can affect the fit of canopies and other accessories, and certain types of customization can put the vehicle’s original warranty at risk,” says Rex Edmunds, Club Car’s aftermarket product manager.

Club Car has a better solution. Its new Phantom parts and packages let owners customize their Precedent golf cars, and stay with the Club Car brand they know and trust.

Instant Inspiration: The Phantom package consists of three complementary components, available as complete kits with everything needed for installation or as individual parts.

Phantom front cowls and rear bodies with dual headlights.

Handsome marine-grade seats with colors, piping and stitching to match the body tones.

Matching 10” aluminum wheel and tire assemblies.

“The parts are made in America and can be used to upgrade any existing Precedent or ordered on new vehicles through Club Car’s Custom Solutions Department via Authorized Club Car Dealers,” Edmunds says.

The Durable Phantom Body: The Phantom body is distinctively different from the classic rounded Precedent body with a single headlight. It features dual halogen headlights and more robust automotive styling.

The bodies and cowls are available in six brilliant new colors, as well as classic red and black.

Many body kits are made of fiberglass and require painting, but Phantom bodies, like Club Car’s modern bodies for fleet golf applications, are made with color embedded into the durable ABS plastic from which the bodies are formed. No painting is required, and dings and scratches won’t discolor the body. A protective clear gloss finish gives the bodies a deep, rich shine.

Phantom bodies accommodate all Precedent accessories including the four-inch lift kit, five-panel mirror and rear-facing, two-passenger seat.

Priority Seating: Phantom seats are available in white or pewter, with piping and stitching to match the body colors, or in caramel with beige piping

Made of Spectrum™, a soft but durable marine-grade vinyl that feels like the inside of a golf glove, the seats resist mildew, UV light and wear. They are hand-crafted, with a blind stitch covered by a top stitch. This prevents sand from entering the seats and cutting threads, and it helps water run over, rather than into, the seams.

The seats are made using a multi-density foam process that allows different parts to be molded in specific patterns, with softer seat bottoms for comfort; denser backs and bolsters for support.

Be a Big Wheel: Complete the look with 10” aluminum wheel and tire assemblies. The wheels feature polished spokes and background colors to match the Phantom bodies.

Each of these items can be ordered separately, but ordering complete packages that include the Phantom bodies, complementary seats and wheels is a better value.

This January, Pro-Fit will introduce a groundbreaking system to allow golf car owners to monitor and manage their vehicles more closely than ever before. Smart Link™ combines specially designed hardware with a smartphone application to provide owners with unprecedented control over their vehicles.

Smart Link is compatible with multiple golf-car models, including the E-Z-GO® TXT®, E-Z-GO RXV®, Club Car® DS and Precedent®, and Yamaha® Drive®. Pro-Fit is a line of universal and economical golf car accessories, available at more than 479 golf car dealerships nationwide and online at

Smart Link provides golf car owners with the ability to gather robust data about vehicle performance including current vehicle speed, battery charge level, and expected recharging time. In addition, operators can plot their desired route to their destination with GPS guidance, receive maintenance reminders as necessary, and lock their vehicle to prevent unauthorized usage or theft.

“The Smart Link system offers peace of mind to the end consumer,” said Frank Cisterino, General Manager of Lake Erie Golf Carts. “With this tool, a father can lock the vehicle in the garage so his young child doesn’t accidentally turn it on, or an elderly golf-car owner can be notified that his golf car has less than 25 percent of its battery charge remaining and it’s time to get home. This is revolutionary in our industry.”

Smart Link is compatible with Android and Apple iOS-powered hardware, and allows monitoring functionality for up to 5 users, so a family can place the app on multiple smartphones. Alternatively, the app can connect to unlimited vehicles, creating a monitoring system for golf-car fleet operators. The required hardware and device are sold together, with no monthly fee for the application.

Smart Link easily attaches to the vehicle’s rear body with a supplied bracket and pulls only three milliamps of power from the battery. The “Lock-Out” feature connects to the Charger Interrupt circuit on all E-Z-GO, Club Car Precedent, Club Car DS and Yamaha Drive vehicles.

A team from Plum Quick Motors claims to have reset their own Guinness World Record mark for “Fastest Golf Cart” at the Darlington Dragway in South Carolina on Friday.

The Plum Quick-designed cart reached a speed of 118.76 mph, annihilating their previous record of 103.65 mph.

Founded in 1981 by Carson Steen and his two sons, Rick and Robby, Plum Quick Motors is a Fort Mills, S.C.-based company that produces “high performance golf cart motors for a variety of applications,” including golfing, hunting and racing.

The Steens began drag racing golf carts in 2008 as a way to test products and promote the Plum Quick brand, but it wasn’t until 2013 that they petitioned Guinness to open a “Fastest Golf Cart” category. They set an initial mark at 103.65 mph in October 2013 and have been working to beat it since.

“It was a very wild ride, right on the edge of being a very bad day,” wrote Robby, 52, who piloted the cart on its record-setting drive, in an email to “Prayed a lot and the good Lord let me walk away safe.”

Boost Your Fleet’s Power and Reliability. Cut Maintenance Costs and Emissions.

When shopping for gasoline-powered fleet golf cars, remember this: other vehicles have engines with electronic fuel injection (EFI), but there are big differences in these engines.

The sophisticated but easy-to-maintain EFI engine that powers the new 2015 Club Car Precedent golf car broadens that gap.

“Club Car engineers spent a year researching major engine manufacturers’ offerings before partnering with Subaru, a world leader in building small engines with EFI,” says Rusty Risher, Marketing Manager, Golf.

Using automotive technology, Subaru designed a 14-hp-rated, 404 cc single-cylinder overhead cam engine with EFI. Designed around a unique matrix of features, it outperforms the competition and ranks best-in class in virtually every category.

Unprecedented Numbers

The new engine increased horsepower by 35 percent, fuel efficiency by 35 percent and cut carbon monoxide emissions by 30 percent over previous Precedent golf car engines. It also:

• Delivers 23 percent more power than competitive EFI vehicles.

Reduces the annual cost of ownership by $160, based on fuel usage and maintenance schedules in the owners’ manuals.

Club Car is so confident in this new engine that they have extended the warranty on both the Precedent golf car’s engine and gas transaxle to a five-year limited warranty standard, one to two years longer than competitive vehicles. “This gives course owners and managers an added layer of protection and cuts the total cost of ownership even more,” Risher says.

Why EFI?

Unlike engines with carburetors and chokes that suction fuel and can be difficult to start, EFI systems atomize fuel by forcibly pumping it through a small nozzle under high pressure. So they start right up even in frigid weather, automatically adjust for altitude and deliver power on demand. EFI systems also reduce maintenance costs, last longer and lower emissions.

The Club Car Difference

“But the design of EFI engines varies considerably,” Risher says. “Ours is engineered with overhead cams that are more automotive and precise than the outdated pushrod engines in competitive vehicles.”

The Subaru engine also:

• Features a hemispherical head design that produces more torque and power than the straight valve engines in competitive products.

• Offers capacitive discharge ignition for more precise ignition timing and better starting when cold

Improves reliability with a case-hardened steel timing chain.

• Has a splash lubrication system that eliminates the need to buy, change and dispose of oil filters.

Club Car vehicles are built on the industry’s only rustproof, corrosion-resistant aluminum frame, engineered to be stronger than steel frames. Club Car, one of the most respected names in the golf industry, is the world’s largest manufacturer of small-wheel, zero-emissions electric vehicles. Visit for more information.

Flint has agreed to pay a golf cart company $69,500 to settle a lawsuit that said the city’s former state-appointed emergency manager shouldn’t have ended its contract.

The Flint Journal reports ( ) Pifer Inc. of Holly sued the city in 2013, saying Michael Brown violated the state constitution when he cancelled the city’s lease of 100 golf carts for its municipal golf courses.

Brown said at the time of the 2012 order that the contract was providing a financial disincentive for outside companies as the city sought contractors to take over operation of its courses. Flint now contracts with private and nonprofit groups to run golf operations.

Current emergency manager Darnell Earley signed a resolution last month authorizing settlement of the case involving Pifer.

In conjunction with its annual golf outing, the Terra College Foundation is having a raffle for a one-of-a-kind golf cart.

The completely reconditioned 1998 Yamaha Model G-16 will go to the lucky person whose ticket is pulled during the golf outing Aug. 4 at the Catawba Island Club. You need not be present to win.

The cart is electric and comes with six new batteries and a new charger that plugs into a regular house outlet. With 36 volts of power, the cart can reach speeds up to 18 miles per hour at full throttle. It is not street legal but can be made so with a light kit, horn and windshield wiper (not included).

“What’s not to like about a golf cart trimmed in Terra State graphics?” asked Lisa Williams, executive director of the Terra College Foundation. “But seriously, we are so appreciative of Tom Kern for donating this cart to help raise funds for student scholarships. Our Foundation Board members are so involved and generous and Tom’s donation is surely one example of that.”

Kern was pleased to help.

“I enjoy raising funds and supporting good causes,” he said. “Terra State is a gem, and it is right here in our community. The golf cart should be fun as a fundraising event. I hope we end up with a really happy owner who finds a special place in their heart for Terra State Community College.”

Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased now at the Terra State College Store in Building B or at the Foundation Office in A-202. They also will be available at the golf outing.

For information on the raffle or the golf outing, call the Foundation Office at 419-559-2325.

Bristol, Tennessee Police want to find three missing golf carts and the person who took them.

Officers said someone stole one red and two black golf carts from Bristol Golf Carts at 710 Volunteer Parkway on May 12.

Police think someone may have broken into the business by walking through a yard off 7th Avenue. Another cart was damaged, but not taken.

Police said the red cart that was taken looks like the photo to the left. The two black carts were similar to the green cart pictured above.

If you know who stole the golf carts, contact Investigator Mike Anderson with Bristol, Tennessee Police at 423-989-5529.

Solaris Power Cells, Inc. the creators of the Solaris SMART-CELL “Passive Electron Storage Array” ™, completed a six-month study on the attributes, performance and feasibility of its Passive-Electron-Storage-Array™ (PESA™) Sun Cart™. Over this time period, Solaris Sun Carts™ were rigorously tested with multiple PESA™ array sizes, with and without solar panels, including proprietary circuitry and in three different scenarios. All testing was done by converting an EZ-GO RXV golf cart into a Solaris PESA Sun Cart. This included exchanging the existing Trojan batteries for a Solaris SMART-CELL™ power storage array and replacing the roof with a Solaris Solar Power roof.

Scenario 1: Solaris Sun Carts™ for daily utility and human transportation in the Palm Springs iHub business campus over extensive 6-8 month period. The Sun Carts™ cart was driven during every business day of operation. The Sun Carts™ is rated for a range of 2 miles and is able to charge from empty to full in the sun in about fifteen minutes. Over the past 6-8 months of daily use, the cart has not suffered any mechanical failure with performance speeds in excess of 20MPH.

Scenario 2: Solaris Sun Carts™ with a slightly larger PESA array for residential use. This Sun Cart™ was rated for six plus miles and could solar charge via the Sun from empty to full in a little less than an hour. Three to five times a week, this cart was run from full energy to empty in the neighborhoods surrounding the Palm Springs Airport. It also included the PAL Bi-Directional Electron Router. Results for the PAL Bi-Directional Electron Router are listed in the last paragraph.

Scenario 3: Sun Carts™ for use on a golf course. Testing for this setup included the playing of golf with the cart at multiple courses throughout the Palm Springs area. Predominate testing was done at Escena Country Club and Golf Course located in Palm Springs California and results showed the cart could handle 18 holes of golf at the rate of a typical foursome with enough energy to return to the clubhouse with plenty of power to spare. This cart could be charged by the sun in about 90 minutes and from a 120V outlet in about 15 minutes and it used the PAL Bi-Directional Electron Router.

PAL Bi-Directional Electron Router: Initial data analysis shows that the converted EZ-GO RXVs did not exhibit any loss in performance and that the Solaris PESA ™ Storage Solution will be easily scalable for multiple uses. With no solar panel, the PAL Bi-Directional Electron Router increased the range by an average of 71.0% and on an 80° plus Fahrenheit day in the spring, the PAL Bi-Directional Electron Router increased the range by an average of 59.6%. The PAL Bi-Directional Electron Router and proprietary circuitry included are all part of the total Solaris Power Cells patent-pending solution.

The Solaris Passive-Electron-Storage-Array™ installed Sun Carts™ White Paper will be made available in PDF format at

Automotive styling enhances comfort; EFI engine boosts power, increases fuel efficiency
Club Car, a brand of Ingersoll Rand, announced that its 2014 line of Carryall utility vehicles has been reengineered and restyled with a more powerful engine, a high-efficiency charging system and a bed box that protects and organizes equipment.
A 14hp-rated Subaru 404cc overhead cam engine with electronic fuel injection (EFI) boosts horsepower by more than 30 percent and increases fuel efficiency by almost 50 percent over previous gas-powered Carryall vehicles. Without a choke or carburetor, EFI engines also start more quickly, even in frigid weather. The engine’s filter-less oil system may also decrease maintenance costs.
Carryall’s electric-powered vehicles with the IQ Plus powertrain also get a boost in 2014 with a new solid-state, high-efficiency charging system.
Carryall’s redesigned bed box – lined with the same material used in many pickup trucks – is sturdier, longer lasting and quieter than previous bed constructions. Rustproof aluminum side panels feature a fully integrated track-based attachment system for organizing and transporting shovels, rakes, blowers and other equipment. Movable bed dividers and cargo tie-down loops stabilize cargo to reduce shifting.
Contoured seating and more space between the seat back and a new ergonomically engineered soft-grip steering wheel increase driver comfort. The shifter and gauges are now integrated into an automotive-style dash.
The Carryall 300, 500, 550 and 700 models also feature a stylish look with LED taillights and halogen headlights. Larger cowls made of ArmorFlex material and bumpers and fenders made of resilient plastic replace the boxy look of many utility vehicles, giving Carryall a more rugged appearance and feel.
The new line of Carryall vehicles is backed by a longer warranty period on most models that increases the warranty period for gas and electric powertrains from two to three years and increases warranty period for most other components from one to two years.
Additional Features and Benefits:
•    Single-handed latch-and-release tailgate, similar to a tailgate on a pickup truck, spans the entire bed and can be opened from
either side.
•    Optional cab (integrated into the vehicle’s design) features a windshield and doors that sit flush with the frame and do not require
an adapter kit.
•    Larger tires (20” vs. 18”) increase traction and ground clearance to deliver a more comfortable ride while decreasing turf
Club Car offers more than 28 light-, medium- and heavy-duty models and configurations of utility and transport vehicles. The vehicles are available in 2-, 4-, 6- and 8-passenger models powered by gasoline and diesel engines and electric motors.
Note: Engine horsepower and torque specifications are provided by the engine manufacturer. Actual horsepower and torque in use may differ and are dependent on environmental conditions as well as the maintenance condition of the engine.

Spectators at this week’s Valero Texas Open can learn more about The First Tee of Greater San Antonio youth development program and John Deere’s passion for golf by visiting a tournament display sponsored by Deere.
Deere is a national corporate partner of The First Tee, a non-profit youth organization that uses golf as a platform to teach life and leadership skills and provide character education programs for young people.
“We look forward to sharing our story about our program’s positive impact in the lives of youth,” said Mary Carriker, executive director of The First Tee of Greater San Antonio. “Sponsors help us impart important life skills to young people of the San Antonio area as well as expose them to careers in the turf care industry.”
John Deere’s strong commitment to the game of golf is the overall theme of a multimedia display that will premiere at the Valero Texas Open and then visit seven other PGA TOUR events this year. Carriker notes that the display at the Valero Texas Open will be near the 17th green.
Besides The First Tee, the display showcases John Deere’s commitment to golf, which dates back to the 1930s when golf course superintendents began relying on John Deere equipment for turf care and maintenance.
“John Deere is a part of golf’s past, present, and future,” said James M. Field, president of Deere’s Worldwide Agriculture and Turf Division, noting that the company currently is the official equipment supplier of the PGA TOUR; the title sponsor of a PGA TOUR event, the John Deere Classic; and a sponsor of professional golfer Zach Johnson.
In 2013, Deere announced a $1 million 5-year donation to The First Tee, which includes support for The First Tee chapters such as San Antonio and the creation of “Careers on Course” - a program introducing teens to careers in golf course management and the science of agronomy.
The First Tee is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit youth development organization. Since its inception in 1997, The First Tee has introduced the game of golf and its values to more than nine million young people in all 50 United States and four international locations.

U.S. Battery manufacturing is “powering” an effort by Columbia ParCar Corp of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, in sponsoring Drive For Veterans, a cross-country fundraising trip to provide support and awareness for wounded American veterans. The Drive For Veterans is scheduled to begin October 19, 2013 in San Diego, California, and end approximately 45 days later at The Villages in North Central Florida.
Columbia ParCar has set this entire event up from start to finish, and as the organizing sponsor, the company is providing four vehicles that will be powered by U.S. Battery US2200 deep-cycle golf car batteries. Another two vehicles will tag along as support, with one utilizing eight U.S. Battery AGM2224 batteries. “We’re extremely happy that Columbia ParCar chose U.S. Battery products to power its electric vehicles across the country in this important fund raiser,” says Don Wallace, U.S. Battery CMO/Executive Vice President. “Because U.S. Battery products carry maximum amperage for longer periods of time, and reach peak capacity sooner, our batteries will give the vehicles the performance necessary to help achieve their daily mileage goals.”
The participants will stop at various cities and events across the country, in an effort to raise $500,000 that will be donated to the Fisher House Foundation and Semper Fi Fund. The Fisher House Foundation provides “comfort homes” at major military medical centers to enable family members to be close to a loved one during hospitalization. The Semper Fi Fund provides financial support during hospitalization and recovery. “This cross-country trip will highlight the needs of wounded veterans nationwide while also helping to provide the financial and emotional support and care our heroes need to heal and rebuild their lives,” says Todd Sauey, President of Columbia ParCar. In addition to the various stops, the teams will give presentations to teach young students about how electric vehicle technology can help conserve energy, the environment, and the economy.

E.R.I.C. ensures reliable charging through voltage spikes and sags
Club Car’s new advanced electrical charging system is designed around an intelligent long-term storage algorithm that continuously monitors changes in voltage and charges the golf car’s batteries when needed.
E.R.I.C., an acronym that stands for efficient, reliable, intelligent and connected, draws a maximum of 7.5 amps (lowest among major golf car manufacturers) and is designed to operate with AC input voltages of 85-270 VAC, which ensures reliable charging through voltage spikes and sags.
“E.R.I.C. makes the charging process more efficient and more reliable,” said Randy Marquardt, Club Car’s vice president of global marketing. “It’s a tool that enhances the health and performance of our customers’ golf car fleets.” One of E.R.I.C.’s most anticipated features is a system of visible and audible indicators that communicate to cart barn staff that a car is charging.
“E.R.I.C.’s status lights and buzzers practically eliminate the possibility that anyone thinks cars are being charged when they’re not,” Marquardt said. By allowing system updates and battery status to be transferred by plugging a flash drive into a USB port in the charger, E.R.I.C. saves staff time and keeps cars on the course, instead of in the cart barn waiting for maintenance.
Additional features and benefits of ERIC include:
•    Efficiency increased to 91 percent from 75 to 80 percent (previous model) based on 120 VAC.
•    Maximum amp draw reduced to 7.5 amps, allowing two chargers to be safely connected to one 20-amp circuit if needed. (Club Car recommends that each ERIC charger is connected to a dedicated 15 or 20 amp separately protected single phase circuit.)
•    Lightweight (weight reduced from 22 lbs./10.0 kg to 8 lbs./3.6 kg), solid-state design withstands dust and moisture and operates between minus 40° (40° C) to 149° (65° C).
•    Charger monitors battery pack voltage to send the proper amount of electricity to fully charge the batteries.
•    The charger has an intelligent long-term storage algorithm that continuously monitors changes in voltage and charges when needed.
•    Charger will turn on if voltage in the battery pack is as low as 8 volts, compared to 30 volts previously. This feature was incorporated as a safeguard for customers who do not properly charge and store cars during winter months.
•    Operates across an 85-to-270 voltage range, accommodating voltage spikes and sags and providing the flexibility for the same model to be used globally.
•    External connections for AC and DC cords prevent damage to internal charger components when charger cords are snagged in the cart barn. Cords are easily replaced if damaged.
•    Utilizes an intelligent DV/DT charging algorithm that can modify the charge cycle depending on the batteries’ needs.
•    Features simple visual indication of AC power connection, battery charge status and faults.
•    The car is equipped with a dash light to communicate when charging begins in the cart barn and when the batteries are below 20 percent and below 10 percent state of charge while the car is on the course.
•    The car also provides an audible alert when charging begins by sounding the reverse buzzer three times.
•    2-way communication via USB port, enabling the upload and download of information and updates via a USB flash drive.
•    The new controller accompanying the ERIC charging system continuously monitors battery status. When equipped with Visage, the car communicates battery status, location and other information via the Internet.
